Machine embroidery workshop using soluble fabric

A fun and creative workshop with Dot Ronaldson.  Dot has led many free motion embroidery classes at The Woolpatch and she is back by popular demand! However, this time, we've hired the scout hut so there is way more room for you all and we can take more people!

This class is suitable for beginners or those with some experience of free machine embroidery.

In this workshop you will use two soluble fabrics. Aqua bond and Romeo. The aquabond has a sticky surface into which a collage of sheer fabrics, yarns and ribbons are arranged. This is sealed by laying the Romeo over the top. Free machine embroidery is then used to outline the shapes and link them. Creating a network of stitch and adding detail and definition. The soluble fabrics are then washed away revealing the lace effect piece. The piece can be mounted as a picture or used to cover a lampshade.

You would need to bring your sewing machine and a free motion embroidery foot. The machine must have a facility whereby the dog teeth can be lowered or covered.

Dot will provide all materials however there will be a charge of £3 for the soluble fabrics this is included in the overall price and The Woolpatch will give to Dot.

Dot as always will provide machine embroidery threads and a selection of sheers, ribbons and yarns but if you have any you would like to include please bring them along.
