Improvers Knitting

The Course:  You can sign up to just this one class if you already know other skills and techniques in the series or sign up to them all individually.  It also doesn't matter about the day.  Just look for an improvers class on any day and book yourself on!

Skill Level: This class is suitable for those who can do a knit and purl stitch and have knitted in stocking stitch and for those looking for a knitting 'refresher'.

Start a simple garment and learn to read patterns and understand abbreviations whilst doing this.

The classes are aimed at moving on from just knit and purl. You will learn a variety of different stitches, how to pick up stitches and how to create button holes.  You will gain a great insight into the various techniques you can use with a pair of needles and some yarn.  All this is done at your own pace over 1,2,3  or more lessons. You decide.

There will also be the opportunity just to knit your own personal projects and those with some experience can have a go at more challenging techniques which may include complex stitch patterns.

Materials Included: We can supply you with 4mm needles and yarn to practice with but at this level you may want to do something more substantial so we recommend that you bring 4mm needles and some double knitting yarn and a simple garment pattern.  All these can be purchased at the shop on the day with a 10% discount.  (if you already have a pattern, yarn and needles in mind then bring them all along by all means).
Your Class Tutor: Hiya my name is Jackie and my grandmother Ada taught me to knit when I was 11 and as that was over 40 years ago, knitting has basically been my hobby for most of my life.
I have knitted everything you can imagine and my daughter had the best dressed dolls in Essex, along with every outfit you could possibly knit. Even now she picks an item from fashion magazines and says "mum can I have that".  My favourite things to knit are children's clothes, where I often adapt patterns for individuals.
I designed a child's dress collection which is "The Ada-Rose Collection" with knitted bodices and fabric skirts. These have gone all over the world i.e. New Zealand and Italy.  My other hobby is cross stitch embroidery mostly on 32 count linen and I can turn my hand to all sorts of embroidery.
